David was born in Toronto, Canada and grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Accounting.
Shortly thereafter, he was recruited to Denver, Colorado by one of the country’s top auto dealers. During his 3 year tenure there, he was named salesman of the month 3 times, salesman of the year in his first year, top financial manager across all dealerships, and finally one of the youngest sales managers to be promoted – at the age of twenty-five.
David first became acquainted with Naples during the family vacations of his youth. As a successful young adult, his fond memories prompted him to purchase an investment property here – sight unseen – and pack his bags for beautiful Naples, Florida.
“My favorite thing about the Naples area is the people. From the wealthiest investors and seasonal residents, to those who live and work here year round, they are all so down-to-earth that it is difficult to differentiate between the Fortune 500 crowd and the middle class working men and women. It’s a pretty low key area; not flashy. There is a real who’s who of nice people here. I’d describe it as having a mid-western feel despite the fact that it is a tropical place. One of Naples best kept secrets is that dolphins are commonly sighted right at the Naples pier.”
David chose a real estate career, “Because I wanted to be self-employed; own my own business. I’ve always been driven personally, wanting to better myself. When you own the business you can determine how successful you will be. You can work hard and become successful.”
He has been with Amerivest Realty for over seven years. “Compared to traditional brokerages, hands down I liked that with Amerivest Realty I have my own company.” David appreciates that his branding takes precedence while the Amerivest Realty brand is still appropriately if subtly represented. ”My company and logo are first; Amerivest Realty is subdued as opposed to overbearing.” Depth of industry knowledge and a wealth of experience in real estate were additional factors in David’s choice of broker.
“What brokerage you are with comes down to the actual REALTOR®, their experience; their knowledge.”
David has been awarded Amerivest Realty Top Producer by Dollar Volume every year from 2005 through 2012, with over $100 million in closed transactions. Last year was his most incredible year yet. He closed nearly forty million dollars in sales: testimony, he says, to what a motivated person can do at a 100% commission brokerage.
David has been recognized by Who’s Who In Luxury Real Estate [LRE], an invitation-only collection of the finest residential real estate associates in the world. Each sells in the top ten percent of his or her market. LRE members sell properties across the globe, managing complex transactions with the utmost discretion.
David believes in pursuing experiences that enhance and enrich his personal and professional acumen. He completed the Harvard Business School’s Owner/President Management (OPM) Program in 2014. As a college student, he participated in Semester at Sea, an academic program during which students visited 9 countries: Japan, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, India, Kenya, South Africa, Brazil, and Cuba. For David, it was an opportunity to learn and appreciate how privileged we are in the United States.
In the community, David is a proud supporter of the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County, the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, and the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital.
David’s Golden Rule: “To truly treat your clients the way that I would want to be treated is at the heart of how I live my life.”
